On June 23, the press conference for the 2026 Asia Philanthropy Forum (APF) was held in Haikou, Hainan Province. It was officially announced that the Forum will take place in Boao, Hainan, from 28 November to 2 December 2026, under the theme of “Open Collaboration, and Innovative Development.”

The Forum is organized by the Asia Academy of Philanthropy (AAP) along with a number of domestic and international partners. It aims to build a high-level platform for dialogues and cooperation in philanthropy with its roots in Hainan to serve Asia, and to engage the world.

The Asia Philanthropy Forum (APF) is a premier philanthropic event in Asia initiated and led by the Asia Academy of Philanthropy (AAP). The Forum is committed to implementing the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping—the Global Development Initiative (GDI), Global Security Initiative (GSI), Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), and Global Governance Initiative (GGI) while contributing to the consolidation of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promoting the sustainable development of philanthropy and charitable endeavors in China and across Asia.

Centered on the SDGs, the Forum serves as a platform for ideas and leadership and a bridge for practical collaboration models to bring together influential philanthropists, entrepreneurs, scholars, heads of nonprofit organizations, and other key stakeholders from around the world. It provides a unique venue for exploring new mechanisms and pathways for philanthropic dialogue and cooperation in Asia, sharing innovative experiences and best practices in philanthropy from both China and abroad, and jointly broadening visions and finding solutions for global sustainable development.

Delivering remarks at the press conference, Lu Zhiyuan, President of the Hainan Charity Federation, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Asia Philanthropy Forum，and former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hainan Provincial People's Congress , noted that since its inception in 2023, the Asia Philanthropy Forum has grown steadily through three successful sessions into a professional platform for philanthropic dialogue which holds its roots in Hainan serving Asia, and connecting the world.

Lu emphasized that, as the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port continues to advance at a rapid pace and institutional more open, unprecedented opportunities are emerging for the internationalization of philanthropy and charitable endeavors. He stated that, under the theme of “Open Collaboration, and Innovative Development,” the 2026 Forum will build upon the successful experience of previous sessions and continue to pursue the goals of internationalization, professionalization, platform development, and brand enhancement.

He expressed the hope that the Forum will further evolve into a platform for building consensus together, an engine for project implementation, a testing ground for innovation, and a bright calling card of the Hainan Free Trade Port.

Lu called on philanthropic leaders and practitioners across Asia to work together in solidarity and partnership to open a new chapter for philanthropy and charitable development in Asia, and to contribute the strength of philanthropy toward building a community with a shared future for mankind.

At the press conference, Mr. Huang Haoming, President of the Asia Academy of Philanthropy (AAP), Former Chairman of the China Association for NGO cooperation (CANGO), and Executive Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Asia Philanthropy Forum (APF), officially unveiled the detailed agenda and arrangements for the 2026 Asia Philanthropy Forum.

Featuring a rich and diverse program, the Forum will comprise one high-level plenary session, at least 15 parallel forums, and two accompanying side events, providing an open, inclusive, and dynamic platform for cross-sector dialogues, knowledge exchanges, and practical cooperation among stakeholders from across Asia and beyond. Forum is expected to bring together approximately 390 participants from different countries and regions around the world, including government representatives, leaders of international organizations, distinguished scholars, business executives, and frontline philanthropic practitioners.

The design of all parallel forum themes will be closely aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with particular attention given to several key areas. These include, but are not limited to: ending poverty in all its forms everywhere (SDG 1); ending hunger and achieving food security (SDG 2); ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages (SDG 3); ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education (SDG 4); achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls (SDG 5); promoting sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth and decent work for all (SDG 8); building resilient infrastructure and fostering innovation (SDG 9); reducing inequalities within and among countries (SDG 10); making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable (SDG 11); taking urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (SDG 13); conserving and sustainably using marine resources (SDG 14) and terrestrial ecosystems (SDG 15); promoting peaceful and inclusive societies, access to justice, and effective institutions (SDG 16); and strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development (SDG 17).

The Forum is committed to mobilizing the collective expertise and resources of international organizations, universities, research institutions, corporate social responsibility departments, non-governmental organizations, and philanthropic foundations. Through keynote speeches, roundtable dialogues, case sharing sessions, and closed-door discussions, participants will engage in in-depth, pragmatic, and forward-looking exchanges on these critical issues.

Preparations for the Forum are made steadily and systematically. Key activities—including the confirmation of keynote speakers, refinement of thematic sessions, venue planning and arrangements, as well as technical and logistical preparations—have all entered the implementation stage.

In parallel with the Forum preparations, the Organizing Committee will officially launch the public nomination process for the 2026 Asia Philanthropy Recognition List. The initiative aims to identify and honor individuals, teams, organizations, and projects that have made outstanding contributions to the advancement of philanthropy in Asia and promoting the Sustainable Development Goals thereby further energizing and strengthening the regional philanthropic ecosystem.

At the press conference, organizers of several parallel forums and side events also presented updates on their preparations. Among them, the Social Organizations Sustainable Development Forum will focus on topics such as policy support, diversified fundraising, digital technologies, and regional cooperation, exploring China's pathways and Asian experiences in promoting the high-quality development of social organizations. The 2026 Asia Chamber of Commerce and Association Innovation and Development forum will center on three major themes—philanthropic collaboration, artificial intelligence, and business globalization. Leveraging the policy advantages of the independent customs operations of the Hainan Free Trade Port, the forum aims to facilitate cross-border resource integration and strengthen cooperation networks among chambers of commerce and business associations.

Since its inception in 2023, the Asia Philanthropy Forum has attracted more than 2,000 participants from over 30 countries and regions worldwide and has hosted a total of 39 parallel forums and side events. Through the release of research findings, recognition of philanthropic exemplars, and the launch of collective action initiatives, the Forum has effectively integrated major national development strategies with grassroots philanthropic action. It has facilitated the implementation of a series of cross-border cooperation projects in areas including rural revitalization, inclusive and equitable education, ecological conservation, elderly care, and humanitarian aid. In addition, the Forum has released a number of Asia-focused philanthropic initiatives, exemplary case studies, and annual recognition lists, while promoting multiple cooperation agreements and establishing a regular and sustainable network for philanthropic collaboration across Asia.

The Forum has also been incorporated into the “Heart-to-Heart Connectivity along the Silk Road” Action Framework under the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, initiated by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges, and has been recognized as a model case under the “Silk Road Family” New Platform Initiative.

In the future, the Asia Philanthropy Forum will continue to leverage the international influence of the Boao convention and exhibition platform, together with the policy advantages of the Hainan Free Trade Port, to build a bridge connecting philanthropic resources across Asia and around the world. Through consensus-building, resource matching, project collaboration, and institutional participation, the Forum seeks to transform its outcomes into practical, actionable, and replicable initiatives, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of public welfare, social services, and philanthropy in Hainan Province.

The press conference was moderated by Mr. Kang Feng, Executive President of the Asia Academy of Philanthropy (AAP) and Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee of the Asia Philanthropy Forum (APF), who also responded to questions from the media.
